Prediction #1

Let’s start a new series called Predictions. It’s where I’ll make… predictions! I don’t promise every prediction will be 100 percent original but when I post one here it will be the first time I’ve ever heard the prediction being made. Someday in the future I’ll be able to dig up old predictions after they come true and fully showcase my brilliance. So here we go:

In the 2012 Presidential election, the Republican party will exploit the hell out of the Obama Administration’s protection of BP leading up to (and after) the massively disastrous Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Of particular interest will be when the administration expanded offshore oil drilling along the East Coast, in Alaska, and in the Gulf of Mexico in March 2010, one month prior to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. And how since the oil spill the Administration has protected BP from ongoing investigations.

The Republican party didn’t really use this ammo in the recent midterm elections because they weren’t going explicitly after him, and let’s face it, they didn’t really need to use it. They scored pretty well with the House of Representatives. Instead, I think they’re saving this big Obama doozy for the Presidential election. I don’t know how they’ll use it, since they are all oil drilling, environment haters themselves, but I have a feeling it will be brought up in one way or another.

In the meantime, everyone should watch the Frontline episode on BP’s awful history not only with the environment but as a company in general. It’s pretty shocking.
