Lately, I have been obsessed with Kaskade’s 2 hour BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. One of my favorite tracks in the set is Kaskade’s remix of Skylar’s Invisible, a track that was originally released last year and has been remixed by a handful of other great DJs including Fred Falke, John Dahlback and Dirty South. Katie created a double disc music mix for Christmas (a very electro Christmas) and this track quickly became one of my favorites. I may or may not play it on repeat for hours at a time.

There have been some really great songs by The Rapture including Get Myself Into It and Whoo! Alright – Yeah… Uh-huh. There have also been some really great remixes of songs by The Rapture from their 2011 album, In The Grace of Your Love, including How Deep Is Your Love, remixed by A-Track (which I featured on my Favorite Songs of 2011 holiday cd mix for friends) and the following track, Sail Away, remixed by one of my favorite electronic groups, Cut Copy. The Rapture is one of the many acts I’m looking forward to checking out at Coachella!

This year I had the pleasure of seeing one of (in my opinion) the world’s best DJs, deadmau5, twice. Deadmau5 recently received three Grammy nominations for his work this year including a nomination for Best Dance Recording for Raise Your Weapon. This was a pretty amazing remix of that track:
It’s officially been one year since I ran the California International Marathon. For 18 weeks, I started every marathon training run with the same song. 59 training runs including across the Golden Gate Bridge, through Central Park and on the beach in Puerta Vallarta and for a few races including the Portland Half, Bay to Breakers, the SF Half and the Morgan Hill Half and of course the big race.
Hearing this song takes me back to all those weeks of training.
Later this week I am finally going to see Foster the People. (at The Fillmore!) Let’s celebrate and embrace the anticipation with a fun remix of one of their songs. Happy hump day.
